Cochran County, Texas
Roy and Ellen moved to Cochran County in 1935 when they bought one of the Slaughter Farms, located 3 miles South and 1 mile West of Morton. Roy farmed and welded for 2 years, then moved into town.
At that time he owned and operated a welding shop until 1939. In 1940 he became the Chevrolet dealer and continued until 1960. After that he raised quarter horses and farmed Northwest of Morton.
They had six children, 3 boys and 3 grils. Cordie passed away in 1939. Tressie attended Draughon's Business College in Lubbock and later moved to San Angelo, Texas. Lloyd graduated from Morton High School and served
four years in World War II. He moved to Denver City, Texas in 1949 and opened Lloyd Allsup Chevrolet. Presently he lives in San Angelo, Texas. Don graduated from Morton High School and served in the Navy. Upon his return
from service he went into business with his father. Presently he lives in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Lonnie graduated from Morton High School and attended Abilene Christian College. Later he served in USAF. Upon his return
he started his chain of grocery stores. Presently he lives in Clovis, New Mexico. Glenda graduated from Morton High School. Shortly after that he became a homemaker. Presently she lives in San Angelo, Texas.
In 1974 they moved to Lake Nasworthy, San Angelo, Texas, where Roy enjoyed fishing until his death in September, 1979.
Ellen presently lives in San Angelo.
