Cochran County, Texas
"Ran" was born in Lampassas, Texas April 19, 1907 to J. A. and Alberta "Duke" Holloman. He was the second of six children; the others were Jake, Duke, Orville, Tubby and Waynelle.
Mr. Holloman, Jake, and "Ran" came to Morton in 1923; bought some land, returned to Lampassas for family and furniture and returned to Morton in 1924.
"Ran" met Hazel Lackey and they were married March 1, 1928. They reared their children and lived in the same house in Morton for fifty-two years.
J. T. was born December 3, 1928 and Judy came along October 12, 1940. Both attended Morton Schools. J. T. graduated from high school in 1947, married Betty Rankin in 1948, and worked for Ray's Hardware and Furniture for
many years. He and Betty operated a television repair and flower shop for a time before moving to Katy, Texas about 1957. Their children are Belinda (now Mrs. Mike Edge), Brenda (Mrs. Ray Pampell), Richard, who is married
to Cathy; and Robin (Mrs. John Hutto); all live in and/or near Katy except Belinda who lives at Orange, Texas. J. T. is employed at a savings and loan company in Katy.
Judy married Mickey Coleman in 1957. Mickey served in the navy, then attended Sul Ross in Apline, Texas. They reside in Lubbock and have for many years. Mickey attended Texas Tech and worked for Bush=Hog Manufacturing for several years.
Judy does secretarial work. They have one daughter, Kelly (Mrs. Myson Phillips) who was born in 1960. She has two children, Megan, four and one half years, and Matthew, one year.
Judy and Mickey have acreage on South University in Lubbock since 1982. She has continued to love horses, which she still raises, and maintains a garden every year.
"Ran", J. T. and Judy were charter members of Morton's Sheriff's Posse, traveling to many celebrations all over the country. They participated in the Aspencade at Ruidoso, New Mexico and J. T. went with the Posse on the
renowned St. Louis, Missouri trip.
"Ran" had a trucking business, worked for the county highway department, J. W. McDermett Cattle Company, and the last seven years of his life worked for Jackson Farm Equipment and was County Commissioner of Precinct #1/1955-1961.
He had his first heart attack in 1960.
He loved his community and was "involved" from the beginning. After his heart attack, he continued to enjoy life, friends, and the community in general until his fatal heart attack in October of 1980.
Hazel now lives in Lubbock, near Judy. Dude Holloman lives in Plainview. Waynelle is Mrs. Leonard Emery of Dallas. They spend their summers in Arkansas where they have a lodge.
