Availability of 1890 Census
Cochran County was not formed until 1876. The area remained largely unsettled until the 1920's. If you are looking for persons you believed may have been in this area before 1880, it is recommended you check the census records for Bexar and Young counties.
There is no evidence of a census being taken for Cochran County in 1880.
The 1890 Census was destroyed and/or heavliy damaged in a fire in 1921. The remaining damaged portions of the 1890 census were destroyed in 1934/35.

The National Archives only releases census records after 72 years have passed from the time the census was taken. The 1950 Census will not be released until April 2022
