Mr. and Mrs. M. G. "Guy" Mathews of 3519 22nd Place will be honored on the occassion of their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2:30-4:30 p.m. today in the reception room of State Savings and Loan Association at 6601 Indiana Ave.
Hosts will be the honored couple's sons, daughters, and their spouses. They are Mr. and Mrs. Marion Mathews of Post, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Blankenship of 5010 35th St., Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Mathews of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stringer of Tahoka.
Mr. and Mrs. Mathews' granddaughters will assist with hospitalities.
Mathews and the former Miss Almazelle Monroe were married September 30, 1924, in Littlefield. They were the second couple to be married in Cochran County after it was organized. They lived in Morton for 28 years while Mathews
was employed as a policeman. In 1952 they moved to Denver City where Mathews was employed by Yoakum County public schools. In 1960 they moved to Lubbock. The honored couple has 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
