Cochran City

A former planned townsite in southeastern Cochran County.

Cochran City

Defunct Community

Around the time Morton was established, plans were made for a town in the southeastern corner of Cochran County called Cochran City.

The town was originally on the Duggan Ranch, south of Whiteface. The site was surveyed and the streets were marked off in the 1920s. According to R. C. Strickland, the streets were still visible in the early 1930s when he visited the site as the County Tax Assessor.

The first successful oil well in the county was on the townsite of Cochran City.

The townsite was never filed with the county, and no further information on the town has been found.
